Satyakam Arya was Vice-Chairman of CII, Tamil Nadu State Council for the year 2021-22.
Chennai, March 08, 2022 – Satyakam Arya, Managing Director & CEO of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a 100% subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, is elected as Chairman of CII, Tamil Nadu State Council for the year 2022-23. He was closely associated with CII as Vice Chairman for Tamil Nadu State Council, for the year 2021-22.
He was also the co-Chairman of the Manufacturing sub-committee of CII Southern Region in 2020-21, Chairman of Tamil Nadu CEO Forum in 2020-21 and is a member of Executive Council of Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
Satyakam Arya has been at the helm of DICV’s commercial vehicle operations since 2018. His key focus areas as the Chairman of CII, Tamil Nadu state Council will be to work alongside industry stakeholders to drive a collaborative effort to increase the heft of Tamil Nadu in its contribution towards the country’s economy, lead efforts towards sustainability, skilling, digital transformation and equitable growth in Tamil Nadu with a special focus on southern districts.

Under Satyakam Arya’s stewardship, DICV continues to grow as a strong and progressive player in the domestic market with the made-for-India CV brand ‘BharatBenz’. In his career with Daimler, Satyakam has aggressively expanded export operations of other Daimler Truck brands including Mercedes-Benz, FUSO and Freightliner in over 60 markets worldwide.
Prior to this role, Satyakam worked in Tokyo, Japan as Chairman of the Board for PABCO Ltd, a subsidiary of Commercial Vehicle manufacturer Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC). During the same period, Satyakam headed Customer Services & Procurement for Daimler Trucks Asia, the umbrella organisation under which DICV and MFTBC operate as independent legal entities.
